Hvar is the largest city of the homonym island and renown for its pictoresque natural bay. The city is the starting point for boat tours to the surrounding islands and beaches during summer season. Hvar also has a very rich history, being founded as a Greek colony, then conquered by the Romans and more recently being part of the Venetian Republic. The city is also known for it's architecture and culture, having a modern art museum and one of the oldest theatres of Europe, dating back to 1612.
