Dénias historical roots can be traced back to the Iberian era, making this costal city of the province of Alicante one of the richest in history and culture of the area. During the Islamic era, Dénia became the capital of a large and powerful kingdom that extended up to the Balearic Islands: the Moorish influence can still be seen in the buildings of the city and in Dénia's biggest monument, the Moorish castle towering over the city.Nowadays Dénia is known for its incredible beaches and its delicious gastronomy, thus becoming one of the main tourist destination of the Valencian Community.
