About Winchester
The city of Winchester, whose roots date back to the Iron Age, and which was hugely important during both the Roman and Medieval periods, still stands today, with cobbled streets and a mixture of ancient architecture which will transport you back to those times. Most famous for its stunning cathedral, the Winchester Cathedral is more than 170 metres long, making it the longest Gothic cathedral in the world. Don’t miss the crypt, with its famous sculpture by Antony Gormley, or the Tower, which provides stunning views of the city.
