Embark on a memorable exploration of Japan's ancient capital, Kyoto, and the historic city of Nara. Your adventure commences at the renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kiyomizu-dera Temple. This celebrated Buddhist temple is famed for its expansive wooden stage that extends over a beautiful valley, offering unparalleled views of Kyoto. In the vicinity, you have the option to visit Ninenzaka & Sannenzaka, Ishibei-koji Alley, Gion, and Yasaka Shrine.
The journey continues with a visit to Fushimi Inari Taisha, one of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks. This age-old Shinto shrine, dedicated to the fox deity Inari, is recognised for its seemingly infinite rows of vivid red torii gates that meander up the mountain behind the shrine.
Your exploration proceeds with Nara Park, a vast, tranquil park where amiable deer roam freely and live in harmony with the locals. The park offers an ideal setting for leisurely strolls, feeding the deer or simply unwinding amidst nature. A brief walk from Nara Park will lead you to the majestic Todai-ji Temple, one of Japan’s most significant and impressive temples. This UNESCO World Heritage Site houses the colossal Great Buddha (Daibutsu), a bronze statue standing an awe-inspiring 15 meters tall.
